What are the requirements to qualify for specialty certification differential?

Certification must be related to the nurse’s primary practice and is subject to Nurse Manager/ Assistant Director/Director of Nursing review for appropriateness.
Career nurses in the CNA bargaining unit and non-exempt, non-represented nurses appointed at 50% or more are eligible if they work in the specialty to which certification applies. Per diem RNs who work the equivalent of half time (1040 hours annually) who otherwise meet all eligibility requirements may apply after verification of hours worked.

What should I do to receive my specialty certification differential?

Career Nurses

Complete Specialty Certification Differential form (form available at end of policy accessed via this link or from website above)

Submit form and proof of certification with expiration date to nurse manager. A proof of certification without expiration date can be submitted to start receiving the differential pay BUT a proof with expiration date must be submitted to nurse manager once it becomes available.
Once form has been signed by nurse manager, submit form and a copy of proof of certification to the Nursing Office in L171.
Per Diem Nurses
Complete request form by May 01, following the end of the contract year for payment in June. Follow same process as stated above.

What are the terms of payment for specialty certification differential?

Career Nurses

RN must provide proof of certification renewal. Differential will not be paid beyond expiration date.

Only 1 differential payment will be paid regardless of the number of certifications held.

Per Diem Nurses
Must have worked 1040 hours or more between May 01 and April 30 of the contract year to receive a one-time non-base building lump sum of $600 in June.
