Adult Acute Care
Clinical Nursing practice takes place in a variety of settings on two main campuses (Mt. Zion and Parnassus). Whether your interest is in-patient nursing, Home Health, Ambulatory Services, or Perioperative Nursing, you will find something at UCSF Medical Center to challenge and excite you professionally.
There are ten adult, acute care, in-patient units, three of which are located on the Mt.Zion campus, with the remaining six units on the Parnassus campus. Our in-patient care focuses on several special populations such as neuro-sciences (neurology and neurosurgery), solid organ transplant (including kidney, liver, pancreas, and heart-lung); oncology (both surgical and medical – including bone marrow transplant), acute renal failure/dialysis, and cardiac care, as well as the more common conditions such as diabetes, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, etc. and general surgery. Because we are a regional referral center specializing in tertiary and quarternary care, many of our patients have multiple co-morbidities, making for a challenging environment for our medical-surgical nurses.
