Residency Program

UCSF Medical Center implements the standardized, evidenced-based Residency program for new graduate nurses. Based on Benner’s landmark research utilizing Dreyfus’ Skill Acquisition model, this yearlong program is designed to support the beginner nurse in transition to the level of competency. As a reflection of UCSF’s commitment to the professional development of our nurses, the Residency program will provide the structure to help you confidently move into practice. Under the guidance of a preceptor during your initial orientation phase and resident facilitator for the remainder of your first year, you will be provided with real-world learning through seminars, case studies and clinical practice.
