2006 Awards
The 2006 Distinguished Nurse Award
Nubia King, RN received the 2006 Distinguished Nurse Award for her leadership role in improving the model of nursing care in the Adult Intensive Care Unit.
Her aim was to improve the model of nursing care to meet the needs of critically ill patients and their families, as well as to change the culture and practice in the ICU to provide truly family-centered care.
As a result of her efforts, the ICU visiting policy is now evidence-based and patient/family-focused, encouraging and allowing family members to be active participants in the care of their love one.
The unit places a greater emphasis on emotional and spiritual support for families of ICU patients, and the unit has seen an overall improvement in the continuity of care at the bedside.
The Department of Nursing Proudly Announces the 2006 Winners of These Distinguished Awards.
Awards were presented at the Nurses Week Ceremony, Tuesday, May 9, 2006.
