This book offers clinicians a snapshot of human diversity. It is not a cookbook but a set of general guidelines to alert readers to the similarities as well as differences between and within the groups. There are 35 ethnic/cultural groups featured in Culture and Clinical Care. Each chapter outlines issues related to health and illness, cultural/ethnic identity, communication, spiritual/religious orientation, family relationships, food practices, developmental and sexual issues, birth and death rituals, and other topics.
Please see also the UCSF Diversity web site. The UCSF Diversity web site provides information about diversity resources, events & activities, and news & information.
The UCSF Champions of Diversity pin is presented to individuals in recognition of ongoing commitment and efforts toward promoting and increasing diversity at UCSF. Those who receive the pin wear it with pride. To find out more about the Champions of Diversity Program, click here.
