Welcome to the Department of Nursing website for UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Children’s Hospital.
Our professional nursing staff provide the highest level of excellence in the delivery of quality patient care to complex patients in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, adult, and pediatric specialties. Located in the heart of San Francisco, our medical center employs over 2,200 Registered Nurses who provide care for 25,000 inpatients annually, and serves approximately 700,000 ambulatory care patients per year.
At UCSF, the Department of Nursing and all Medical Center staff share a common Mission, Vision, and Values that unites our commitment to the highest standards of patient care delivery. The Department of Nursing Philosophy reflects the unique contribution of nursing and is based on compassionate care and advocacy, excellence, and supports a culture of caring and nurturing for one another.
The Department of Nursing web site provides detailed information on many of our patient care areas, specialty programs, and nurse-led initiatives. The Department has a strong partnership with the UCSF School of Nursing, which offers our nurses a substantial tuition reduction to pursue their masters or doctoral preparation. You will also find a link to Human Resources, and to many other sites of interest.
