Welcome to the Perioperative Services Division of the Department of Nursing. We are a multi-unit division, providing state-of-the-art care to patients during the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative phase of the surgical or procedural visit.

Perioperative units are located on the Parnassus campus as well as the Mount Zion campus. More than 21,000 surgeries are performed annually. Physicians and hospitals in the Unites States and throughout the world refer patients here for the advanced surgical technology that we provide in a broad range of specialties including: Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Transplant (liver, renal, pancreas, heart and lung), Pediatrics, Fetal Surgery, Otolaryngology, Head & Neck, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Oral Surgery, Vascular, General, Dermatology, Urology, Gynecology, and Thoracic. Our dynamic and busy Endoscopy Centers offer diagnostic and interventional procedures for inpatients and outpatients.

Perioperative units include:

PREPARE Programs: PREPARE is a pre-surgical evaluation program at Moffitt-Long and Mount Zion Hospitals. Adult and pediatric patients are prepared for surgery in advance at this outpatient clinics.
Moffitt-Long Operating Room: The Moffitt-Long Operating Room is located at the Parnassus campus and includes 22 full-services surgical suites, serving primarily inpatients.
Moffitt-Long Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU): The Moffitt-Long PACU cares for patients during the pre-operative and post-operative period.
Children's Surgery Center: The Children's Surgery Center is located within the Moffitt-Long Operating Room complex with two surgical suites especially designed for children, and a pediatric induction and recovery room that includes parental participation.
Ambulatory Surgery Center at Parnassus: Located in the Ambulatory Care Center, this 6-suite outpatient ambulatory surgery center serves pediatric and adult surgical patients.
Mount Zion Operating Room: The Mount Zion Operating Room has nine surgical suites, and serves both outpatients and inpatients.
Mount Zion Pre-Op/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU): The Mount Zion Pre-Op/PACU cares for patients during the pre-operative and post-operative period.
Endoscopy Center at Parnassus: Pediatric and adult patients are seen in this unit which serves inpatients and outpatients. Endoscopic procedures include GI, pulmonary and transesophogeal echocardiograms. More than 5900 procedures are performed annually.
Endoscopy Center at Mount Zion: Adult patients needing endoscopic procedures are served in this Mount Zion outpatient unit where more than 1800 procedures are performed annually.
