Magnet designation is the highest accolade bestowed on nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and is internationally recognized as a proxy for the highest performing healthcare organizations that feature an engaged and collaborative nursing workforce, providing exemplary patient care based on best practice. UCSF Medical Center received its initial Magnet designation in 2012 and was honored to be redesignated in 2017 for its demonstrated excellence in nursing practice and quality patient care.
UCSF Medical Center is the first hospital in San Francisco and one of only 46 hospitals in California to achieve Magnet designation! On a national level, only approximately 9% of hospitals have received this honor.
