Abstract Submission Portal
Goal: Provide a forum to connect clinical nurses, nurse scientists, and nurse leaders who create the climate of clinical inquiry and advance nursing practice through collaborative research, evidence-based practice implementation, and innovations in practice and healthcare delivery.

Abstract Submission Categories
- Quality Improvement: a systematic, data-driven project that aims to improve clinical practice process or performance
- Evidence-Based Practice: a project that designs and implements an evidence-based intervention in clinical practice
- Research: an IRB-approved study that aims to generate new knowledge through the scientific process
- Innovation: a project that introduces a novel method, product, or technology into nursing practice
- Completed work may be submitted either as a podium or poster presentation
- Works in progress must have preliminary data and can only be submitted as a poster presentation
- Abstracts must reflect original work (i.e., not presented elsewhere) conducted from January 2020 to present (within the past 2 years)
- Primary presenting author must be a nurse (i.e., LVN, RN, APRN, etc.)
- Other team members can be interdisciplinary professionals
- Final abstract acceptance is conditional upon conference registration by the primary presenting author If selected
- All communication will be directed to the primary presenting author only
- Podium Presentation:
- Presentations are done live (either virtually or in-person)
- 15 minutes is allotted for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions and answers
- Presentation must utilize the approved presentation template
- Poster Presentation:
- Work is presented visually, either electronically as a PowerPoint slide or in-person printed on a large poster
- Poster size should be landscape, 48” by 36”
- In-person presenters must be available to answer audience questions during the designated Poster Session
- Abstract body has a 500 word limit in total
- Abstract must have at least one learning objective specifying what the learner will take away from engaging in the presentation (Tip: complete the sentence “Participants will be able to…” and use Blooms taxonomy of learning)
- Primary presenting author must submit a current curriculum vitae (CV) or resume
- Use a word processing platform (i.e., Microsoft Word, etc.) to compose the abstract, check spelling, confirm count words, and then copy and paste into the submission form
- An individual may submit more than one abstract
Completed abstract submission includes the following:
- Abstract Title (15 word limit)
- Primary Presenting Author
- First and Last Name
- Email Address
- Organization and Unit/Clinic or Department (e.g., UCSF Health, 11L/HemOnc)
- Position Title (i.e., Clinical Nurse III, etc.)
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume (PDF format only)
- Names of Co-Author(s), if applicable
- Identify Abstract Project Category
- Quality Improvement
- Evidence-Based Practice
- Research
- Innovation
- Preferred Presentation Format
- Poster presentation
- Podium presentation (only for completed works/projects)
- Either poster or podium presentation
- Learning Objective (50 word limit; tip: complete the sentence “Participants will be able to…”)
- Body of Abstract (500 word limit in total)
- Quality Improvement: problem/gap identified, project measurement(s) and intervention(s), methods, results, conclusions
- Evidence-based Practice: statement of problem, PICO(T) question, clinical appraisal of evidence, design and implementation intervention methods, results/performance data, conclusions (implications for practice or further study)
- Research: background, objectives, methods, results, conclusions
- Innovation: background, purpose, design and implementation, results/impact, conclusions
